Question of the Week

Who will go down?

The Clock Is Ticking!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 18/12/2004

HERE we go again! The runners and riders are ready. Are you? Will we ever find a prize winner? The clock is ticking and it is time to find out!

So here is this week's comp. The prize is; Two seats anywhere in BP plus two free match day magazines or, if you prefer, 50 quid in cash!

But you have to earn it. If there is no winner this time, the 50 quid will go to the Grimsby Town Supporters Trust and the next comp will revert to 25.

I have made it easy this time as previous comps have clearly demonstrated that the 'Football Brain of Britain' does not reside among the Town fans. (He lives in Australia and already has 50 quid!)

Here we go!

The Boxing day game against Macclesfield.

  • Who will be Grimsby Town's first scorer!

  • In what minute will Town score? (We will allow you to be plus or minus 5 minutes.)

  • If Town do not score, time of the first Macclesfield goal. (We will allow you to be plus or minus 5 minutes.)

The winner will be the one who has the scorer and time of the first goal in the game but has to be plus or minus 5 minutes of the actual time published in Sporting Life. (The person nearest without the allowance will take it.)

Example: player one forecasts 33 minutes, player two forecasts 38 minutes. If the time is 33 minutes, player 1 wins as he is nearest as he never used the 5 minute allowance.

If player 1 forecasts 36 minutes, and player 2 forecasts 38 minutes, player 1 wins as he is nearest. Both have used the 5 minute allowance.

The Macclesfield time of scoring will only be used as a tie breaker. Nearest to that time will do whatever is forecast. If after using the tie breaker, in the unlikely event that there is draw between two people we will split the prize between them. If there is draw with more than two, a further tie question will be asked of those who qualified.

Important: If the score is 0-0 this comp is null and void

There will be no prizes to "I was the nearest". You have to get it right! The trust needs the money.

    Please use this format with your entry;

    Cramb
    22
    65

Which means Cramb is first Town scorer in 22nd minute.

The 65 is the time of the first Macclesfield goal.

    Good luck!
