The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Boston 1 Grimsby 1

A goal from Matt Harrold rescued a point for the Mariners in a dour 1-1 draw with Boston at York Street. Former Grimsby striker Daryl Clare had put the Pilgrims 1-0 inside the first 30 seconds after a mistake by John McDermott, before the on-loan Brentford striker's second half equaliser.

Town started with the same team that had finished the game against Oxford last week. Michael Reddy was fit enough to be able to start on the bench, after missing the Oxford game with a groin injury.

An attempted back-pass by John McDermott allowed Boston to race into a 1-0 lead after about 20 seconds. Daryl Clare latched on to the ball and managed to score past Williams.

There were few other decent chances in the remainder of the game for either side, in a match played on a very poor surface, which made it difficult to pass or control the ball. Town's equaliser came from a long aerial ball to Gritton, who headed it down for Harrold to finish.

Both sides had chances to win the game, with a good run through defenders from Michael Reddy which produced a good save being Grimsby's best chance.

A full report will appear later.
