Simon Ramsden Talks To The Grimsby Telegraph.

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 26/04/2005

SIMON Ramsden spoke to the Grimsby Telegraph today about his new one year contract at Blundell Park and sounded very happy to be chosen to play for Town again.

"I am very pleased to get things sorted before the summer. A lot of the lads are still waiting to hear what's happening so to have mine signed is a weight off my shoulders. I have enjoyed it this year when I have played, though it was frustrating at the start when I had the problem with my neck. After that though, I have played quite a bit and it's been good to play more regularly."

"We are all hoping to do better next year because we haven't done anywhere near as well as we should have. Those of us who are signed up are positive about next season. We know there will be new faces coming in as well but we all know each other well now. We want to get our heads down and get on with it next year."

"We know that on our day we can beat anyone in this league and we have to make that happen more consistently next season - that's the key to being at the top. On a personal note, I am hoping to stay injury-free and am looking forward to it."

On this season he said; "It started well for me, then I got the neck injury. When I came back I played in loads of different roles across the back and it has been hard to settle in one to be honest. Although I prefer playing as the middle man in a back three, I am also comfortable on the right side."

"To be honest it doesn't matter as much where I play but it is better to be able to stick to that one position and then you can get some consistency. I played all season at Notts County the season before last on the right and got used to it. Overall, though, I am pleased with how it's gone personally because this is my first time in this division."

"Hopefully I can build on that next season and help the team push on."
