Appointment By Monday - Fenty

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 02/06/2006

GRIMSBY Town chairman John Fenty is hoping to have a new manager in place over the next few days. He is going overseas on Monday and hopes to make the appointment before he goes.

Mr Fenty told the Grimsby Telegraph that the process to find a replacement for Russell Slade is already underway and he is confident the Mariners will get the right man.

Mr Fenty said: "It is in the club's interests to sort out the managerial position as soon as we can. "Obviously we have to make sure we have the right man but I'm confident we will. We have been inundated with applications and CVs since we parted company with Russell."

"The process is underway and if we get the man we want, I'm sure the fans will be happy with the choice. Obviously, we won't be naming names until it is all secured."

"We need to sort the manager out first but naturally we want that done so we can discuss the players' futures. Any incoming manager will have his own ideas of what players he wants to keep so the sooner that's sorted the better."

"Obviously it is a slight distraction having interest in our players. But it shows we are heading in the right direction if we have players that are attracting clubs from a higher level."
