Hibs Sign Rob Jones

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 08/06/2006

SCOTTISH Premier League side Hibernian's manager Tony Mowbray has signed Grimsby Town's Rob Jones. Talks have been going on for some time and the deal was signed today.

Jones has signed a four year deal with the fee estimated to be around the £150,000 mark.

Jones' agent, Kevin Smith, said: "Rob is looking forward to getting himself up there and is already looking at properties.

"He is trying to move things quickly because his wife has just given birth to their first child.

"A lot has happened in a short space of time and he is trying to get his feet back on the ground."

The central defender was persuaded to make the move from Blundell Park by the presence of Mowbray at Hibernian.

Smith added: "Tony has done a fantastic job so far in his time at Hibs and Rob was attracted by that.

"I told Rob what Tony could add to his game. One thing he has never had is defensive coaching on a daily basis to the standard Tony can offer.

"Rob has a tremendous amount of potential still to come and the move excites him."
