Reddy Awaits Decision

FLAMBOYANT striker Michael Reddy's latest injury scare could be coming to an end following a new scan accompanied by a cortisone injection into the Irishman's troublesome groin area. Reddy is now hoping to get the nod from doctors to resume full training next week.

"Hopefully it will be okay. There was some swelling but we will have to see how it feels next week. Only time will tell," Reddy, who has missed all of Town's pre-season games and has been unable to do more than light training, told the Grimsby Telegraph.

Reddy's involvement in the August 5th opener against Boston had been doubtful, but there now is a possibility that the playmaker could at least make the bench against the Pilgrims in the eagerly-awaited local derby which kicks the season off.

Town's unimpressive pre-season continued last night with a 2-0 reverse at home to Lincoln in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup. A poor defensive display by a makeshift Grimsby side cost Town two goals in the second half.

The Mariners next test is on Monday at home to League One outfit Rotherham. Grimsby have yet to win or score a goal against League opposition in the pre-season games.
