By: Ryan Hudson
Date: 23/09/2006

GRIMSBY's unbeaten home record in the league ended against last season's nemesis Stockport County, whose two defeats of the Mariners cost them a place in League One.

Home > 2006-2007 Season > Player Ratings > Stockport (h)

Phil Barnes: Improving every match recently and saved a good penalty. Didn't have much chance with the County goal though. 6

Gary Croft: Another good performance by Crofty which led to him becoming Man of the Match. Worked hard all game and didn't deserve to be on the losing side 7

Justin Whittle: Can see why Rodger brought in McIntosh to partner Fenton, but Whittle just is not the same as last season. 5

Nick Fenton: Had a decent game and won nearly everything in the air, stopped County from getting a late goal with a good block. 6

Tom Newey: One of the poorest performances I've ever seen. Looked tired all game and was sloppy from start to finish. Someone should be pushing for his place but who? 4

Peter Bore: Has had much better first half performances and didn't really get going but then slightly improved his game and started his usual taking and getting past the County defence. 6

Paul Bolland: Had a poor game and you could see by looking at the result. Grimsby can expect a decent result when Bolly gets going. 5

Ricky Ravenhill: Can perform better has he already has against Walsall and Chester. Both centre mids failed to show which affected the team going forward. 5

Danny Boshell: Poor game and didn't look like creating anything much, but is his favourite position on the left? Once again can perform better. 5

Gary Jones: Had a good chance to open his home account but was well blocked. Tried to do his usual flick-ons but the ball always ended back with the Stockport defence. 5

Andy Taylor: Handed first start for the Mariners but didn't have much support and was always chasing long balls most of the time. Tried hard. 6
