Buckley Praises Players

By: Bill Osborne

ALAN Buckley expressed his delight at the win against Accrington Stanley but refrained from 'nit picking' or so he said. He praised the players on their passing style and team work which was the best he had seen in a long while.

"I thought in the first half we were terrific. Some of the football we played down our right-hand side was as good as I've seen for a long time. Inter-play, understanding and our passing and movement were superb."

"If I was nit-picking I would say we should have been three or four up by half-time.

"In the second half Gary Jones took his goal expertly. We then lost Paul Bolland to injury and that upset us a bit and they came at us quite strongly. But we saw it out and started to play again.

"At the end of the day it was important to win and I was delighted with our play."

On the three loan players Buckley said; "They played for me like they have been playing for me all the time," he said. "I wanted to sign five players on loan but I'm delighted with the three I've got."

But John Coleman was far from pleased saying: "If our players are not capable of getting results then others will come in during January. Losing can become a habit."

"I thought we played better in the second half but Andy Todd's miss was crucial," he said. "He missed a sitter and then they go and make it 2-0 and kill the game off. "

"If Andy's effort goes in it's 1-1 and a different game. It's a recipe for disaster if you miss one and then they go down and score."

"We are not giving ourselves a chance because we are conceding daft goals, if you have to score three to win a match you are in trouble. "

"We've got to stop conceding, though I thought Grimsby's first was offside and I'd like to have another look at the one of ours that was disallowed."
