Cup Fever Hits Grimsby

Date: 28/02/2008

TOWN are expecting a bumper gate for Tuesday night's game with Morecambe at Blundell Park. when a place at Wembley Stadium is at stake. Town, who lead 1-0 from the first leg, are hoping that a near capacity crowd can push them over the finishing line.

Town Chairman John Fenty told the Grimsby Telegraph: "We've already had a huge demand for tickets and people are having to be patient because the phone lines are so busy.

"We're one game away from Wembley and everyone seems to be getting behind us."

The match is a 'kids go free' game, meaning under 15s get in free if accompanied by a full-paying adult. Adult tickets are priced at £18 and £16.

The two teams meet on Saturday in the league at Christie Park in a repeat of Tuesday night's cup game, when a heroic performance by Town 'keeper Phil Barnes helped the Mariners keep a clean sheet.

  • Strikers Andy Taylor and Martin Butler both scored in the reserves' 3-1 home victory over Hull City on Wednesday night.

  • Lincoln City boss Peter Jackson has beeen named as League Two's manager of the month for February.

  • On Tuesday should Morecambe win the match at Blundell Park by one goal, there is no extra time and no "away goal" rule - the match would instead go straight to penalties.
