Is football a business or a sport?

Morecambe v Grimsby

WELCOME to the second part of this well awaited trilogy. Tuesday's performance was far from flawless but a vital win keeps some very nice dreams alive as we sleep in our beds and get woke up by cabinets falling on us.

It's stupid to go through the usual drivel I type every week, let's face it we will all know Morecambe as well as Sammy McIllroy by the end of the week: one of their defenders is large they can play it about a bit on the floor and can be very physical if needs be. Back to the league for Saturday and with four points separating the two teams the gap being close could yet again re-ignite hope of that other dream which we have so foolishly began to wonder about. With the last two league results being nothing to write home about we're all hoping the players minds have been on other games in the up and coming fixture list rather then the sound of that rather fragile bubble bursting.

The Tuesday match was nothing more than being at the Alamo. Barnes was exceptional pulling of a string of daring saves and one of special significant, his reactions being able to tip the ball onto the bar in a split second was especially commendable. The game emphasised the need Town have to catch Morecambe on the break if they have to absorb as much pressure as they did on Tuesday. It will be up to Buckley what tactics he uses whether he will hope the same trick twice or a new approach is needed, either way it’s going to be another tough test for the Mariners and with the next important leg on Tuesday surely on both team's minds its another one of these strange situations Town find themselves in. Will we all be happy with a point or will Town collapse altogether and proceed to commit Hira Kari on Tuesday evening. Either way these three games against a small club which wasn't even a blip on our footballing radar a few years ago now holds some major consequences over what remains of the three matches. The next 180 minutes of football could define this club for a few years to come, or am I been a tad melodramatic?
