Buckley Unhappy with Performance

GRIMSBY boss Alan Buckley was disappointed by his players' performance in the second half at Blundell Park on Monday, when they capitulated a 1-0 lead to Brentford, ending up losing 2-1 to the Bees. With Chesterfield losing it meant Town spurned the chance to go within two points of the play-offs.

The Town boss said: "Since we got through to Wembley we've not been the same force.

"I wanted to win the game because the door to the play-offs has been opening wider for us. It didn't seem as if the players understood that.

"As far as Wembley goes, who would pick a team from that performance? People have got to get out there and prove they want a shirt at Wembley.

"Nobody has a divine right to play there, and looking at that it would be hard to pick a team - that's how poor we were."

Grimsby players and fans will finally get Wembley, which has dominated matters in the last fortnight, out of the way on Sunday and will be able to concentrate on the rest of the season, although the chances of reaching the play-offs now look fairly remote with Rochdale current favourites to finish in seventh spot. Dale of course are Town's next opponents in the league at Spotland a week on Saturday.
