Team News For Lincoln

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 29/07/2008

GRIMSBY have several injury problems for tonight's match with Lincoln in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup. Peter Till (groin) and Danny Boshell (ankle) will both miss the game, while Danny North and Paul Bolland have knocks and are both doubtful,

The winner will face Scunthorpe in the final of the county's competition. The match kicks off at 7pm and will go straight to penalties in the event of a draw. The only stand open to Town supporters is the Carlsberg Stand and gates will open at 5:30pm, tickets prices £10 and £5 for concessions.

Grimsby have won the Lincolnshire Senior Cup 36 times, and Lincoln 37. Scunthorpe have lifted the trophy just 15 times.

Alan Buckley is yet to settle in his own mind as to the team to face Rochdale in the season's opener. The Mariners have had an indifferent pre-season so far and the Town boss is looking for an improvement.

Speaking to the Grimsby Telegraph, Buckley said: "Players can play their way into the team - but they can play their way out of it as well.

"We played quite well on Friday night against Farsley Celtic in the first-half, but not so well in the second-half. We need another decent game under our belts before we play Scunthorpe United in the last friendly on Saturday - and this is it. There is still some bedding-in to do - three of our back four are new and we need to keep blending them in."
