"No disrespect to the likes of Grimsby..."

sunday 30th november

MK Dons

From The Evening Standard

The LES reflects on MK Dons' manager Paul Ince's reaction to the cup draw,

"But as he scanned his new club's fixture list in October and prepared to face the likes of Grimsby, Torquay and Rochdale, it is safe to assume that Chelsea were the furthest team from Ince's mind until ball No.50 was drawn out of the hat to face the Premiership champions."

Sponge Bob Squarepants

At the beginning of every Sponge Bob Squarepants episode a short piece of music is played. At the beginning of an episode titled "Sailor Mouth" there is a short snippet of a sea shanty, with the line "From Dogger Bank to Great Grimsby".

Jimmy Greaves

In his book The Heart of the Game Jimmy Greaves describes the start of Match of the Day back in the 1960s. He writes:

"As the seventies dawned the format (of MOTD) expanded...with the highlights of a third game from the lower divisions. As unlikely as it will appear now, broadcasting highlights from a match in the third or fourth division proved popular with viewers, as for many it was the first time they had seen the likes of Bristol Rovers or Grimsby Town in action.'

Mansfield

From BBC Radio Nottingham

Mansfield's Jake Buxton comments on a defeat to The Mariners.

"I'm baffled as to how we can beat the top sides, then lost to the likes of Grimsby here, the fans are baffled as well, but if we put in the same effort as in the draw at MK Don's, and as today, we'll win more than we lose."
