Town Sign Three

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 20/03/2009

GRIMSBY have signed three more players until the end of the season. Leeds midfielder Peter Sweeney, Bradford striker Barry Conlon and former Leeds 'keeper Jonathan Lund have all joined on loan until the end of the season.

With Thursday being the deadline day for loans this season, the three new squad members effectively constitute a last throw of the dice in Town's bid to stay up.

Their relegation rivals Chester now look like they might have a new owner by the end of the week, although it may be too late to beat the transfer deadline because City currently have an embargo on bringing new players in.

For details of the new players see Who Are They?

Grim Rob Says Congratulations to John Fenty for funding yet more loan signings. It cannot have been cheap getting these players and it's heartening to see Town given a chance.

If all three players make an appearance for Town it will bring the total number of players used this season to over 40! I suspect very few people could write on a piece of paper the name of every player who has pulled on a GTFC shirt this season without looking it up!

Let's back the Mariners in the remaining games this season and each of us try to get to as many games as we can in the last six weeks of the season. There's plenty of time in the summer for a post mortem, for the moment we just have to concentrate on getting a squad who want to play for Town and see them pull away from the bottom two,
