Town Pair Depart

DEFENDER Joe Widdowson and striker Adam Proudlock have both left Blundell Park, choosing to exercise clauses in their contracts that allowed them to leave if the club were relegated. Former West Ham left back Widdowson is not set to join League Two Rochdale.

Neither player had an especially successful time at Town. Widdowson looked good when he first joined the club, but seemed to go backwards as his time at the club progressed. Proudlock suffered with injury and fitness, and failed to score many goals for the Mariners.

Meanwhile the club are continuing to look for new signings before the pre-season starts in July. The Mariners have made an audacious bid for Bury striker Andy Bishop, who has a long contract at Gigg Lane so will not be cheap.

Grim Rob Says: I've nothing against either player, but as "big" signings who ultimately failed at the club, both players didn't really click at Town with any manager and we might as well get someone else in their place who wants to be here and is fully committed. Good luck to them both!
