Fishy Verdict:Left-sided midfielder who successive Town managers have largely ignored, which is odd as he has often been the only squad members whose natural position if on the left wing. When Alan Buckley arrived at the club Hegarty finally got a decent run in the side, only to see himself supplanted by Ciaran Toner - whose natural position is in the centre! The break finally came when Hegarty played at left wing back where he finally showed his worth to the team and had an extended run in the side. Obviously rated by Buckley as he was promptly given a three year deal.

On his day Hegarty can be brilliant but often "disappears" during games and this has made him unpopular with some fans. He has drifted in and out the side since signing his three year deal.
