Beat the Bookies: Week 8

By: Rob Sedgwick

LAST week is best forgotten. Grimsby lost depressingly and all the football bets lost. The tennis and rugby league were very profitable - but sadly that falls outside of the scope of this article!

Home > 2010-2011 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 8

  • Crawley Town v Gateshead. Crawley are on a fantastic run at the moment, and it would be a brave man to back them to lose. However Gateshead have won the last two and at 9/1 with Hills a brave man could be tempted to make a flutter. Selection: Gateshead

  • York v Hayes & Yeading. Hayes haven't won since they beat us and the indications are they may struggle this season. Take York at 4/7. Selection: York

  • Stevenage v Torquay. Stevenage have only won one of their last six. Has the novelty of life in League Two worn off? You can get 2/1 with Betfred for league leaders Torquay to get three points. Selection: Stevenage

  • Shrewsbury v Northampton. Northampton's lowly league position is more of a reflection that they have drawn so many games - they have lost just one. So 10/3 with Ladbrokes is not a bad price. Selection: Northampton

  • Sunderland v Arsenal. Arsenal often seem to struggle in the North East, especially after a European night midweek. The Black Cats look a very tempting 9/2 to cause an upset. Selection: Sunderland

  • Tottenham v Wolverhampton. The same could be said of Spurs, who had a long trip in midweek, and lost badly after their last European adventure. Takes Wolves at 15/2. Selection: Wolverhampton 1

    Recommended Fixed Odds Bets

    • 1. Sunderland to beat Arsenal. (9/2, Bet365)
    • 2. Wolverhampton to beat Tottenham. (15/2, Bet365)

    The Monkey's Bet

    • Grimsby to win 3-1, 16/1 Bet365
