Town Defeat Wrexham

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 29/09/2010

GRIMSBY defeated BSP form side Wrexham in a improved display at Blundell Park. For the second game running Town conceded deep in the game, but fortunately this time they had a two goal cushion after goals by Watt and Connell.

New signing Andrew Wright started the game for Grimsby in place of Mark Hudson in central midfield. The only other change was Rob Eagle coming in on the left wing in place of Gobern.

Wrexham has started well but it was Town who took the lead when the Welsh side failed to clear a corner and Steven Watt scored from the second cross in to the box.

After the break Town doubled their lead when Bore played Connell through and Town's top scorer made no mistake.

With Town two nil up and apparently coasting, it was a huge shock to the system when Knight-Percival headed a cross in on the stroke of 90 minutes. Town nervously hung on though through four minutes of injury time.

Town's unbeaten run is now three games, but the three points was their first win since beating Luton five games ago.
