Town Rise a Place!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 06/01/2011

TOWN will shortly rise a place in the league after Kidderminster Harriers are to be docked five points because of a financial irregularity. The Midlands outfit are said to be considering an appeal, but the Conference has a track record of being very strict with its member clubs over matters of this nature.

Harriers faced a hearing today at Football Conference headquarters over a breach of rule 18, which pertains to financial reporting for the periods from October to December 2009, January to March 2010 and April to June 2010

Kidderminster currently lie two places above Town in sixth place but a five point deduction would see them drop to tenth, and they have played two more games than the Mariners.

Grimsby are still 5 points behind the final play off place, but they have games in hands over the majority of teams above them. The next few fixtures are amongst the hardest remaining - on paper - although Town's recent form has been top class.

Grimsby were beneficiaries of a points deduction two seasons ago when Luton were docked 30 points, which meant they were relegated to the Conference in place of third bottom side Town.
