Bath v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 18/03/2011

GRIMSBY have the change to gain revenge for their shock FA Cup defeat last season at Bath when they visit Twerton Park on Saturday. Town have still to play Bath twice this season - the match at Blundell Park against City is in a few weeks time.

The Mariners have though played at Twerton Park before - but not against Bath. Town won there against Bristol Rovers when the Pirates were without a ground in the early 1990's.

Grimsby have four players suspended for Bath game: Micky Cummins, Mark Hudson, Darran Kempson and Charles Ademeno. Cummins and Hudson are midway through 4 and 3 match suspensions respectively, Kempson was sent off in the aborted game with Rushden and Ademeno is suspended for three games after getting himself sent off in a midweek reserve game with Hull!

The good news is that Bath have several injuries despite not playing last weekend due to the ubiquitous FA Trophy. Sekani Simpson (hamstring), Lewis Hogg (pelvis), Adie Harris (hamstring), and Danny Webb (cheekbone) are all set to miss out. Striker Adam Connolly (knee) is rated doubtful, and his fellow striker Jonathan Brown could miss the game as he has been offered a trial with Bradford City.

Grimsby still have a 100% record under caretaker boss Dave Moore, although it's unlikely that their record would have remained intact if the game with Rushden in midweek (in which Town were a goal down and a man down) had gone the distance. It's a game Town must win if they are to have any hope of clinging onto the coat tails of the clubs in the promotion places.
