Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Pre-Season Takes Shape

TOWN are planning several pre-season friendlies this summer, probably the longest in their history given the truncated Conference season. With a 13 week hiatus before 2011-2012 begins in anger, there is plenty of time to get fit after the summer break and the first game on Saturday 13th August.

Already pencilled in are the visits of two football league sides to Blundell Park. Rotherham will be playing Town at home on 16th July and Hull City will cross the Humber a week later to take on the Mariners in Cleethorpes.

In addition the Mariners have the traditional away trips to Barton and Winterton, as well as the Lincolnshire Senior Cup Final against either Scunthorpe United or Lincoln City to be played in the summer. No dates have yet been confirmed for these fixtures, plus several others are likely to be agreed with other clubs.
