We regularly need new Cod Heads, so would appreciate contributions from lifelong supporters of the Mariners. This week's Cod Head is Richard Huntley.

Richard Huntley

Fishy:
Tell us a bit about yourself.

Richard:
I'm 47 Years old, born in Cleethorpes but lived in Manchester since 1990 and have to suffer for my football with a Manure supporting wife (she‘s great in every other way though!)

Fishy:
If you use our forum what is your username on there.

Richard:
Prestwich Mariner - I live in Prestwich.

Fishy:
When did you first start supporting the Mariners, and what was your first game?

Richard:
Last match of the 70-71 season, a 2-0 home win against Crewe and hooked ever since.

Fishy:
Who is the best player you ever saw wearing a Grimsby Town shirt?

Richard:
There’s been a few for various reasons but I think for me it’s probably Futchenstein.

Fishy:
If there is one game you were allowed to go back in time and watch what would it be and why?

Richard:
The 2-1 win over Everton in the League cup 79-80. A fantastic night in the Pontoon and it would be nostalgic to relive that one. There’s been plenty of others over the years though.

Fishy:
What are your favourite and least favourite away grounds?

Richard:
Wigan's old ground was a dump (I've not been to too many Conference grounds) and I quiet liked the Reebok from a viewing point of view.

Fishy:
What, in your opinion, are GTFC's best and worst seasons since you have been supporting them?

Richard:
Worst has to be relegation from the Football League and best would be 97-98 for the Wembley trips although some of the other mid table seasons in Division 1 were good just for the standard of football we were seeing.

Fishy:
What is the most eventful day you have ever had in the course of following the Mariners?

Richard:
Getting chased out of the Kop at the FA Cup game in 1980!

Fishy:
What is the strangest thing you have ever done at a game?

Richard:
Nothing outrageous - probably stripping to my waist at Wendy when we lost 7-1, it was bloody freezing!

Fishy:
What is the worst game you've ever been to?

Richard:
Bolton 96-97 when we lost 6-1 and I had taken a couple of Manure supporting mates along - although they were impressed by the togetherness of the Town fans.

Fishy:
Who is the greatest ever GTFC manager?

Richard:
For having given me the most pleasure watching Town it has to be Alan Buckley and the worst has to be Mick Lyons.

Fishy:
What's the most amusing chant you've heard at a game?

Richard:
There’s been too many over the years for one to stand out.

Fishy:
How many games a season do you get to now, and what do you do while Town are playing games that you can't get to?

Richard:
As many of the North West games as poss and I try and make sure we are at home when I come over to see my family. Most Saturday afternoons are spent with the Telewags text commentary on the Laptop or in the pub with Sky Sports News.

Fishy:
Name your all-time starting eleven since you have been watching Town?

Richard:
Batch. McDermott, Lever, Birtles, Jobling, Cumming, Waters, Futcher, Ford, Mendonca, Tees
