Alfreton v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 06/01/2012

GRIMSBY have signed a new striker, former trialist Kiernan Hughes-Mason to replace Damian Spencer. The former Millwall front player, who can also play on the wing, also played in the league on loan from the Lions at Cheltenham.

The 20-year-old has played at this level before for Kettering Town, who he left this season following their financial problems.

Hughes-Mason has penned a deal until the end of the season, but most probably will have to settle for a place on the bench against Alfreton on Saturday, given the form of Hearn and Elding.

In other team news Craig Disley (ankle) is hoping to have recovered from a knock which caused him to limp off in the New Year's Day victory over Lincoln. With Manny Panther having departed, and also being suspended, it means Frankie Artus or Anthony Church is likely to partner Disley in midfield. If Disley does not recover in time both midfielders will probably start for Town.

Another absentee is right back Bradley Wood, who is suspended for two games following getting 10 bookings this season. Gary Silk, whose chances in the first team have been limited by Wood's form, stands by to fill in in a straight swap.

Former Grimsby manager Nicky Law has no injuries or suspensions with his Alfreton side, but they have been boosted by the signing of Darlo defender Adam Quinn. Another defender Leigh Franks will be added to the squad after rerturning from injury.
