Pearson Signs For Town

STRIKER Greg Pearson has joined Grimsby from Burton on a 1 year contract. Pearson, who scored for Burton against Town in Grimsby's infamous final game in the Football League in 2010, has spent his career mainly in League Two and the Conference.

The six footer knows what it is like to be promoted from the BSP league, as he was at Burton when they won the league in 2009. He also scored Burton's first ever league goal in their opening match of the following season when they lost 3-1 at Shrewsbury.

The midlander started at Coventry as a school boy before becoming a Youth player at West Ham. He never made it at West Ham, but eventually returned to the Midlands to join Rushden, before moving on to Bishop's Stortford and then Burton.

The 27-year-old has not been a prolific marksman for a striker in the last couple of seasons (3 goals in 27 last year, 5 goals in 39 the year before), but he scored 20 goals at this level in the year Burton won the league. He also won the Golden Boot award in the Conference South for Bishop's Stortford. If Pearson manages 20 plus goals again then the forward will have earned his contract.
