Beat the Bookies: Week 5

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 06/09/2012

LAST week saw a small overall loss - but for Robin Van Persie's late show it would have been a tidy profit. The Scunny-to-lose banker reaped its 100% record so far this season. The bookies are beginning to have sussed Scunny out now though and the prices on Iron defeats are dropping as rapidly as the team.

There's not much football this weekend with the International fixtures dominating the schedules. Unless you follow international football they're well worth avoiding as a betting choice with upsets hard to forecast.

Town are favourites to beat Forest Green. The odds look just about right, so we'll have to look elsewhere this week as well.

League Two

  • Northampton v AFC Wimbledon - home win (1.833, Boylesports), AFCW have lost their last four away games and nothing they've done away (or at home) suggests that they are likely to reverse the trend. Northampton's form isn't spectacular this season but it should be enough to see off the Dons.

    Blue Square Premier

  • AFC Telford v Lincoln City - home win (2.2, 888 Sport). Results and morale seem to have plummeted at Lincoln. The opening day win is a distant memory and Telford, who have had a solid start, look likely to inflict another defeat upon the visitors.

    Blue Square South

  • Dover v Hayes & Yeading - home win (1.95, 188 Bet). Dover apart from a midweek blip at home to Chelmsford have been playing well this season. Hayes are yet to settle after the drop last season.
