Grimsby v Gateshead Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 25/09/2012

GRIMSBY look likely to stick with the same side that beat Luton for Tuesday night's home game with Gateshead. The Mariners comfortably beat the Hatters 4-1 in the best performance of the season in Friday night's televised game and will be looking for more of the same.

This means new boys Hannah and Neilson will almost certainly be starting for Town.

One player who won't be starting is Anthony Elding, who has put in a written transfer request this week, but his departure is not imminent as Grimsby have not received any cash offers for the player. With Elding still under contract at Blundell Park he remains a Grimsby player until Preston or any other interested party makes an offer which will be acceptable to Town. However in the meantime Elding is being kept out of the side by the form of Cook and Hannah.

Another player soon to depart Blundell Park, albeit temporarily, is winger Louis Soares, who is expected to go out of loan to get some match time. Soares's involvement with the first team has been very limited this season.

Gateshead have two players suspended, James Marwood and Chris Bush, and a further four injured according to their official site (which does not name the players concerned). Bush was sent off against Woking on Saturday, a game which the Tynesiders lost 2-1.

Former Town midfielder Micky Cummins is expected to start for Gateshead, who are just two points behind Town in the table.
