AFC Telford v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 12/10/2012

GRIMSBY head to Telford at the weekend looking to repeat their midweek performance and result at Alfreton. Town won 2-0 on Tuesday night to continue their unbeaten record on the road, and bounce back from a home defeat by part-time Dartford.

Alfreton had gone six matches unbeaten prior to the game on Tuesday, and Telford are having a similar good spell with just one defeat (to leaders Newport) in the last six outings. The Shropshire club showed they are a force to be reckoned with by thrashing in-form Dartford 4-1 away in midweek.

The Grimsby management team criticised their players for not giving Dartford the respect they deserved last weekend, and Town can't afford the same mistake again at a so-called smaller club fighting above their weight.

Defender Shaun Pearson and striker Ross Hannah both suffered "knocks" in training yesterday and will face late fitness tests to see if they recover in time. Greg Pearson and Ian Miller are the likely replacements if they do not make it.

Telford are unlikely to change much from the squad which beat Dartford but striker Darren Byfield (hamstring) and defender Ryan Valentine (illness) are fit again after missing the game with the Darts.
