Grimsby v Telford Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 08/02/2013

GRIMSBY have a full squad (excluding Hearn) to pick from for the visit of Telford on Saturday. Town made a few surprise changes for the last game, and more can be expected as the managers have promised to use their full squad in the packed fixture list of the next 10 weeks.

Andi Thanoj and Aswad Thomas both played for their respective countries of Albania and England in midweek, so will not be quite as fresh as the other players, who have had a few days off from training to give them a chance to rest before several weeks of continuous football.

Town players who definitely won't be featuring are strikers Greg Pearson and Anthohny Elding. Elding has left Blundell Park to join an unnamed Irish Premier League side and Pearson has gone to Kidderminster on loan for the remainder of the season.

It's the forward positions that Town are most likely to make changes in, Hannah was rested last weekend and Cook and Brodie started. Both players contributed with goals, but it doesn't necessarily mean they'll start again. Hannah or even John-Lewis could get the nod. In midfield the managers have to choose between Thanoj and Niven - much may depend on how they see the opposition as whether they feel Thanoj's passing game or Niven's holding role is more likely to break Telford down.

AFC Telford have recently sacked their manager Andy Sinton and Mark Cooper has come in in an interim role. He lost his first game at Cambridge on Saturday, but with a further week to work with his players, Telford will probably have improved since then. Telford are currently fourth bottom but have only lost 5 out of 15 away games - it's their home form that has let them down.

The Bucks have brought 3 new loan players in this week. Charlie Henry has joined from Macclesfield for a month`s loan, Karlton Watson from Championship side Leicester City also for a month, and Bagasan Graham has come from Cheltenham Town to boost Telford's squad for the run-in.
