Beat the Bookies: Week 34

THERE was just one winner of the games which did take place last week - Dumbarton won at Dunfermline, a maiden win in Scotland for Beat the Bookies. Sadly the week as a whole though saw a loss because most of the other tips were losers.

Grimsby take on Barrow this weekend who have come into a bit of form and it has to be said that all the value lies with the away win at 6.5. Barrow have won their last two games without conceding a goal. Town haven't won any of the last six games and are hardly scoring any goals at the moment.

Premier League

  • Man City v Newcastle - away win (12.35, Pinnacle). Man City's season is over in the league. They are not going to win it, their recent form is poor, but they'll still easily qualify for the Champions' League. Newcastle still need points to avoid relegation and just playing Man City will be motivation enough to raise their game.

    League One

  • Preston v Portsmouth - away win (5.75, Bet 365). League One is a strange division this year with teams suddenly hitting form and then just as suddenly losing it. Pompey are currently a form horse, they have everything to play for, and need all three points. What more can you ask for?

    League Two

  • Northampton v Torquay - away win (4.75, Bet Victor). Torquay have won their last two games and only lost one form six. They are playing Northampton who are in good form themselves and have a good home record, but the Gulls on a roll at the moment and the away win looks the best value.

    Blue Square Premier League

  • Grimsby v Barrow - away win - away win (6.5, Bet 365). Barrow sound crap and they are near the bottom of the table, but look at the last few games and it's Grimsby who have not been picking up points. The Cumbrians have won their last two games without conceding a goal, it's a no brainer that the away win is the value bet. Town also have players with knocks, and who must be tired with all the recent games.
