Lincoln Frustrate Town

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 02/01/2014

GRIMSBY had to settle for a point in the second of the Xmas games against rivals Lincoln City. The Imps took an early lead through a Thomas own goal in the match, but then handed Town the initiative when Bohan Dixon was sent off soon after.

Craig Disley pulled one back for Town before the break, and Grimsby looked the likely winners until John-Lewis received a second yellow card half way through the second half.

Thereafter both teams had chances to win it, but the match ended in a tempestuous draw.

The draw means Grimsby have taken just four points from a possible nine over Christmas, probably two points below par. Town now have two cup games (and possibly more in the event of replays) to focus on before returning to league action.
