Town Do It The Hard Way

GRIMSBY bounced back from the defeat to Luton with an invaluable three points against Hereford on Saturday. But they had to do it the hard way after midfield Scott Kerr was sent off shortly after the game's only goal.

It meant that Town had to defend for over 20 minutes with 10 men, but they held on without Grimsby 'keeper McKeown being seriously troubled.

The game's undoubted highlight was a spectacular strike by Rodman which flashed into the top corner long before the Hereford 'keeper could react.

Kerr then received a second yellow card for a mistimed challenge.

The win lifts Grimsby on the verge of the play-offs, level on points with fifth placed Halifax but with two games in hand. The Mariners have another away trip on Tuesday when they head to Wrexham, a side who they recently beat at Blundell Park.
