Grimsby v Chester Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 11/04/2014

PAUL Hurst sprung a surprise against Dartford when he changed every single outfield player for the trip to Dartford, choosing to rest the whole of his "first team". As the experiment was unsuccessful virtually the entire team could be switched back again for the visit of Chester to Blundell Park.

With Aswad Thomas injured and Jamal Fyfield suspended, and full back Paul Bignot still not ready to return, Paul Hurst has half suggested he himself play at left back - six years since his last game for Burton Albion. However more realistically Caine Winfarrah will probably fill in at left back, with Sam Hatton playing on the other side of the back four. If Hurst is to play he'll probably name himself as a substitute, starting at the age of 39 six years after retirement cannot be a serious option in a game of this importance.

What the rest of the team is going to be is frankly anyone's guess after a hectic week with two midweek games involving every fit professional at the club and several youth players.

Chester defender Matty Brown is suspended, but centre back and captain George Horan could return to replace him after two months out.

City sit just above the bottom four. They've won two of the last three games but wins for the clubs around them mean they still sit just one point away from the relegation zone.
