Macca Signs New Deal

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 17/05/2014

JAMES McKeown has unexpectedly signed a new two year deal with the Mariners, The goalkeeper, who has won Player of the Season for two years running, was watched by a number of league sides, and many expected him to move up a division following Grimsby's failure to do so.

However the prospect of first team football and the chance to make up for the terrible mistake McKeown made in Grimsby's final game at Gateshead have brought the stopper back to Blundell Park to see if he can help win the promotion spot that everyone is desperate to achieve.

"The way last season ended for me was awful - I've never felt like that before," McKeown told the Grimsby Telegraph. "But I've got at least two more cracks at promotion with Grimsby Town now."

Hopefully Macca's signature will spur waverers Andi Thanoj and Scott Neilson to return to the fold.
