Torquay v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 17/10/2014

TOWN head to Torquay looking for revenge over Chris Hargreaves side, who were comfortable winners at Blundell Park a few weeks ago. Town were outclassed that afternoon by the Gulls.

Since the two teams met Torquay have since started to concede as well as score a lot of goals, whereas Town have been parsimonious at both ends of the pitch - something has to give if either team are to break their recent patterns.

Town beat Lincoln in a County Cup match in midweek, which was effectively a reserve game. Ross Hannah scored both goals in that win for Town, so he'll be pressing for a starting place, if Town are two start with two strikers. On the other hand perennially-injured forwards Nathan Arnold and Jon-Paul Pittman have both recovered from their injuries, and are likely to at least make the bench. It's possible that one of them could even start, although Hurst won't reveal his team until the last moment.

One players definitely out is centre back Shaun Pearson, already on five yellow cards, so he's serving a one match ban. Either Carl Magnay or Danny Parslow will deputise in central defence. Midfielder Craig Clay (leg) is rated doubtful after limping out of last weekend's win at Wrexham, although he is travelling with the squad.

It's the first time the two clubs have met in non-league. Grimsby won 2-0 at Plainmoor in their League Two relegation season, a rare highlight of that campaign.
