Grimsby v Aldershot Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 11/09/2015

PAUL Hurst is expected to name an unchanged team for the visit of Aldershot to Blundell Park on Saturday. The most likely change is on the bench as Marcus Marshall pulled out of the reserve game in midweek after injuring himself in the warm-up.

Josh Gowling (suspended), Josh Sunter (foot) and Scott Brown (ankle) are still missing from the squad. Town made hard work of beating Boreham Wood last week but they ran out convincing winners in the end. The players who didn't take part in the Boreham Wood game played against Notts County in midweek in a reserve outing, which Grimsby lost 2-0. It seems unlikely from that scoreline that Hurst will promote any of them into the first team, although midfielder Craig Clay is would be a first choice for many Town supporters in the centre of the park.

Aldershot have won three out the last four games which has seen them recover from an indifferent start to the season. Forward Rhys Browne is expected to return for the Shots after international duty with Antigua & Barbuda over the weekend, with his replacement against Halifax, Charlie Harris, dropping to the bench.

Former Town striker Richard Brodie will return to Blundell Park having scored four goals in the last four games. Brodie scored the only goal at Blundell Park last season when his former club Southport picked Town's pocket. Another familiar face in the Shots' line-up is Sam Hatton who plays in midfield for the SHots but was a right back during his time at Grimsby. Hatton is renowned for his free kicks and long throws.
