Town Through to Round One

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 25/10/2015

GRIMSBY coasted into Monday's First Round FA Cup draw with a 4-1 win at Harrogate on Saturday. Goals from Padraig Amond (2), Omar Bogle and Nathan Arnold wiped out an early lead from the home side that briefly threatened a giant killing from by the National League North side.

Danny East started on the right wing in place of Marcus Marshall otherwise it was the same team that had drawn at Torquay, as Paul Hurst played his strongest side, with no suggestion of resting anyone for the league campaign.

Nathan Arnold had a great chance right from the kick off but his finish let him down. But it was the home side who had the better of the early part of the game and they took the lead when Dominic Knowles went past Nsiala and crossed for Daniels to open the scoring. Former Mariner Joe Colbeck could have made it two from a free kick but McKeowen punched it clear.

Grimsby levelled the game on the half hour when Townsend found some space on the left hand signed and crossed for Amond to finish nonchalantly.

Town took the lead early in the second half after Arnold was brought down in the box. Bogle's penalty was initially saved but the big striker headed the rebound into the net. The Mariners gave themselves some breathing space almost immediately when Arnold was played through and he kept his composure to put Town 3-1 up.

Amond added a fourth with 15 minutes to go to put the game totally out of reach for Harrogate and it means that Grimsby will once again be in the draw when the league sides enter it on Monday.
