GRIMSBY beat Altrincham for the first ever time with a comfortable 5-0 win at Blundell Park. The Mariners got off the mark in double quick time when Amond and Arnold combined, the latter passing to Andy Monkhouse to complete a fine team goal.

Omar Bogle nodded in an Arnold free kick to double Town's lead on 20 minutes. Amond was provider again a few minutes into the second half when he crossed for Woodhouse to bundle the ball past the 'keeper.

Amond scored his customary goal on the hour mark and Arnold added a fifth from a late corner to round off a convincing win for Town.

The Mariners travel to Gateshead next week hoping to make it a fourth successive league win. The Mariners have scored 9 goals in their last 2 league games and only Celtic and Rangers have managed more league goals than Grimsby in any of the Western European leagues.
