Pittman Steals the Points

By: Rob Sedgwick

GRIMSBY picked up a valuable three points at Bromley last night but they needed a late winner from substitute Jon-Paul Pittman to rescue Town after Grimsby had fallen behind to an early goal.

The match was played in windy conditions on a sodden pitch, with driving rain - not conducive to playing passing football. Bromley opened the scoring when the unmarked Sean Francis headed in a long cross.

Town equalised when Nolan drilled in a shot from just outside the box. The Mariners were the stronger team during most of the match although Bromley occasionally threatened on the counter-attack.

The game looked to be drifting to a disappointing draw when Arnold provided a cross for Pittman to head in the winner.
