Bore Draw Frustrates Town

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 14/02/2016

GRIMSBY Town ended the week with a disappointing 0-0 draw against Boreham Wood which sees the Mariners 13 points off the National League summit. The Mariners struggled to break down a Wood side who came for a 0-0 draw and who will have gone away delighted with a point.

Tuesday night's winning substitute Jon-Paul Pittman started in place of Omar Bogle, while new signing Anthony Straker started on the bench.

Arnold forced a save from the 'keeper ion the first half, which was Town's only effort of note in the first 45 minutes.

Town's frustration continued after the break. Omar Bogle and new signing Anthony Straker cam off the bench with 25 minutes to go, but the goal still eluded Town. It could have been worse, too, if Luke Howell's effort had not gone just wide.

Town's midweek game is postponed so unfortunately the chance to bounce back quickly is not available and the Mariners must stew over the weekend's results for a whole week until they set sail for Halifax next weekend and try and get the points they need to qualify for the play-offs.
