Grimsby Sign League One Winger

By: Luke Pawley
Date: 31/05/2017

GRIMSBY Town have announced the signing of Port Vale winger Sam Kelly on a two year deal.

The 23 year old winger, formerly of Norwich City and Port Vale, will officially join on 1st July, upon the expiration of his contract at Port Vale.

Kelly, who plays on the left of midfield, has 57 League One appearances to his name. He is a creative left footed player, who came through the academy system with Norwich City and Everton.

"I'm left footed, I have speed and I want to create and make things happen," Kelly told grimsby-town.co.uk. "I want to get the ball and make things happen. I've scored a few goals, I can play in the number 10 role behind the striker as well and get shots off and try help the team."

Kelly's experience in League One will be a vital asset to bring to an ambitious Town squad for the forthcoming season.

Today's news follows the announcement of Ben Davies putting pen to paper on new one-year contract, which was confirmed on Monday.
