GRIMSBY Town Football Club have confirmed the signing of experienced defender Nathan Clarke on a one-year deal.

33-year-old Clarke joins Town following his release from Coventry City - where he was signed by Russell Slade in January.

Clarke also played under Slade for Leyton Orient between 2012 and 2014. The experienced central defender has played 466 league games in his career.

Town's new defender, who will meet his teammates for pre-season training on Monday, told grimsby-townfc.co.uk: "I'm delighted to get it signed and done and dusted. I can't wait to get in on Monday and meet my new team mates and push on this coming season.

"As a whole, last year was a good year for the club. Gaining 62 points in our first season back in the league, in a tough leaguge is a fantastic achievement. We all need to work hard together, keep improving for the long and hard season ahead and try and go one better".
