Pair Sign for Town

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 21/05/2018

GOALKEEPER James McKeown has signed a new three-year deal which will the end of the 2020-2021 season. The 28-year-old joined Grimsby 7 years ago, so the contract will ensure he stays at Blundell Park for a full decade, a rarity these days.

McKeown is the only survivor from the non-league days, played at Wembley and has been virtually ever-present throughout his seven-year stint at Blundell Park.

The Town 'keeper had been considering other offers, chiefly one believed to be from SPL outfit Motherwell, but the shot-stopper decided he'd like to stay at Blundell Park and join new boss Michael Jolley in what looks like being an exciting passage in Grimsby's history.

Earlier full back Andrew Fox penned a full-time contract at Blundell Park. Fox had been an integral part of Michael Jolley's last few games and played a big role in Town's miraculous recovery last season. The 25-year-old has previously worked with Jolley at their former side in Sweden, AFC Eskilstuna.

Town are expected to make several more signings and are still waiting to hear from several other players who received offers to stay at the club.
