GRIMSBY have signed two new midfielders. Jake Hessenthaler and John Welsh have both signed two year deals. However Luke Summerfield, the pick of last season's midfielders has left the club, after failing to sign his new contract offer.

24-year-old Jake Hessenthaler, son of Andy, has spent his entire career at his dad's club Gillingham. He has played over 123 games of the Kent club, including 37 last season in League One.

34-year-old John Welsh, has spent most of his career at Tranmere and Preston, but also had short spells at Liverpool (where he started his career) and Hull.

Town boss Michael Jolley has now signed seven new players for Town, and more are still to come, as Town bid to put together a competitive squad.
