Town Rewarded with a trip to the Palace

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 03/12/2018

GRIMSBY have been rewarded for their wins over MK Dons and Chesterfield with an away trip to a Premier League side. Town face Crystal Palace, who currently lie 14th in the top flight. The two clubs played regularly in the 80s and 90s in the equivalent of the Championship but have not met since 2003.

Grimsby played Crystal Palace in the FA Cup exactly 111 years ago, winning 1-0 at Blundell Park in 1908. The two clubs have played 20 times at Selhurst Park, but the result has never been a draw, with Town coming away with a win on 6 occasions.

Ties will take place on the weekend of 4-7 January 2019.
