TOWN'S defensive problems continue as Alex Whitmore well be suspended for the New Year's Day kick off with Mansfield at Blundell Park. The central defender received a red card in the amazing win at Exeter when Town hung on against the odds to win 2-1.
Harry Davis (concussion), Danny Collins and Akin Famewo are already ruled out, and 17-year-old defender Mattie Pollock may feature again. The youth team player came on for his debut at Exeter and helped Town come away with 3 points. New signing Sebastian Ring is not eligible to play until next weekend's game at Palace.
Mansfield have no injury worries and are likely to name a close to unchanged team. Mansfield have only lost one league game all season, but the Mariners have won the last five league games at home so confidence will be high amongst both teams. Grimsby have only won 1 of the 5 games against Mansfield that have taken place since Town rejoined the league.
