The Comeback Kings

COMEBACK Kings Grimsby mounted another fightback to rescue a draw from the jaws of defeat at Oldham. 2-0 down with 9 minutes to go was a challenge Grimsby overcame, thanks partly to an injury time equaliser.

Former youth player Max Wright made his first start of the season replacing Matt Green. Elliott Hewitt replaced Ethan Robson in midfield in the start lineup's only other change.

The Mariners had the better of early play until Christopher Missilou fired the home side in front with an acrobatic volley from an Oldham corner ahead on 19 minutes

Oldham looked a danger in the air all afternoon and it reflected the play when Filipe Morais added a second from a cross not long after half-time.

The home side looked to have got the points in the bag but Town were not beaten and they mounted a late assault. A nice move ended in substitute Jordon Cook firing in to give Town a lifeline.

A 90th-minute free-kick inside their own half provided an unexpected equaliser. It was launched straight onto the head of Ludvig Öhman who levelled the match with a towering header to send the away contingent into ecstasy.

Town have been a much harder side to beat this season and they have not dropped points in many games. Their rewards are a top ten position and a place in the cup at Chelsea, their best haul at this stage since returning to the league four seasons ago.
