Pollock Departs

DEFENDER Mattie Pollock has moved to Watford in a five-year deal which will net the Mariners £250K, an initial fee that could rise substantially depending on appearances and performance targets for the Hornets.

The 19-year-old played over 50 games for the Mariners and was frequently watched by scouts during his time at Blundell Park where he made his first appearance at the age of 17 under former boss Michael Jolley. Town fans will be keeping an eye on the centre back as his career progresses, hoping for future windfalls.

Town manager Paul Hurst is hoping to sign at least 10 players over the summer so the £250K is a welcome boost to his budget. That number could rise depending on outgoing players with a number of pros yet to agree on deals or, in some cases those under contract encouraged to move on.
