The Docks Plan Debate

David Peasgood this week finds Fred and Bert have been following the council's latest statement on the stadium plans

Fred and Bert

The Docks Plan Debate

FRED:
They're running scared them councillors. The public reaction has made them all twitch about losing their seats and this latest statement is a load of bull to make us think they care.

BERT:
I'm not so sure. IF what they say is true and they're looking for another site at the council's expense, then at least when they find one it'll be approved with their full support.

FRED:
Oh yeah. And what will they find after wasting our tax-payers money? I bet they come up with the ideal site as Great Coates.

BERT:
What about the docks? A spiritual return home for the people of Grimsby?

FRED:
Depends. Is there enough land? Would A.P.B. sell the land? How long would it take to develop?

BERT:
There's enough land for the stadium but not for the retail park.

FRED:
Then we should drop the retail park and go it alone. Mind you, the retail park is our link to the funding. Without it we have no cash.

BERT:
Sounds all a bit heavy. A lot to sort out too. I wish somewhere easier could be found.

FRED:

BERT:
If they suggest Stallingborough meadows we ARE in trouble. That's miles away, but apart from the docks I cant see anywhere. Macauley street tip isn't bad, but that's earmarked for other development already..

FRED:
Perhaps then the best bet is to appeal against the Great Coates decision.

BERT:
Maybe. But it'd take ages. Those Great Coates people could appeal and string the process out for ages and ages.

FRED:
Best then to attack on two fronts. Appeal and also search for alternatives via the council. Failing that lets see if GTFC themselves can come up with anything.
