The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

A SECOND HALF blitz by the Mariners saw Grimsby come from behind to record a 2-1 victory over 3rd Division neighbours Lincoln City in a Blundell Park sizzler which sends the Mariners into the next round of the Worthington Cup.

Tony Battersby gave the Imps a deserved 34th minute lead, but after the break the Mariners dominated, and finally broke the deadlock on 73 minutes.

Striker Phil Jevons, who had earlier had a goal disallowed, netted his first goal for the Mariners following a fumble by City's 'keeper Alan Marriott who otherwise has an outstanding match in the Lincoln goal.

Grimsby ensured their entry into the 2nd round draw in the 3rd minute of injury time when substitute Jonathan Rowan rifled the ball home to send the Town fans delirious.
