Bradley Allen Says Consistency Is Essential!

GRIMSBY TOWN announced today that almost a thousand junior fans took up Grimsby Town's 'kids go free' offer for Birmingham City game with a gate of almost 5,500 with 942 youngsters getting in free. The club made approximately £24,000 in ticket sales and a further £25,000 from the TV rights.

In other news, Grimsby Town striker Bradley Allen told the Grimsby Telegraph today that the Mariners must show some consistency.

"We have to be consistent and we can't go into another run of losing games. We have to learn how to play poorly with such a young team and get something from matches.

"There were a lot questions being asked and everybody sensed how important these two homes games are. If we had come out of them with two defeats we would have been in the bottom five for the rest of the season."

"But the win gives us a lift and we have to take this performance into Tuesday. It's smashing to play again and to get three points makes it even more pleasing. We had a terrible run of results and the boys were lacking performance and confidence for four or five games, certainly in the league."

"The start we've had has given us a tally that we didn't have last season. Then we were always playing catch up. At the turn of the year last season we were having to win big pressure games. But the start had given us a cushion and that was eroding away."

Allen, who was the GET's man of the match will keep his place tomorrow alongside top scorer Phil Jevons.

Talking about Michael Boulding Allen said: "I had a season at Charlton when I scored goals in the Reserves and I played with a young lad called Kevin Lisbie. He played wide right and he was always a terrific outlet and could retain the ball and you always knew you could clip it out to him."

"Mick showed us some of that. He's a bit raw but with his pace it's another dimension for us. It certainly helps us having him in our side."

Boulding said: "I feel I've improved a lot since I first came here and over the last six months I've got better. I've got a massive amount to learn. If I concentrate hard and keep learning from the other experienced players I can get a lot better than I am now."

"The win is a massive boost for us. Hopefully we can go on and get a result tomorrow night against Norwich."

Town boss Lawrence revealed today how he signed Boulding.

"Dave Bassett, a close friend of mine, recommended him to me, and he had also written to us in the summer. Dave recommended him because he is a close friend of his dad, and he was a professional tennis player for a long time, and very good. He has come in the game very late, and he still doesn't know the game, but what he has got is that devastating burst of speed and he certainly knows where the goal is."

"I've had a look at him, he played on the left at Manchester City and didn't do bad, and he was a post-width away from a hat-trick. Defensively he isn't so clever, but he gives us an outlet down that left-hand side, and we haven't had that really. Stuart Campbell is a different type of player, but that has been a plus for us really."
